King Charles III can strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles if they "directly attack" the Princess of Wales in the Netflix docuseries, a royal expert said.

Royal commentator Michael Cole told GB News that it was an "option" for Charles to remove the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's titles after the release of the controversial Netflix series and the most-awaited memoir of Harry, titled "Spare."

Royal experts had guessed that the Netflix docuseries will touch Kate Middleton's life before she married into the royal family.

Cole said the royals have a "never complain, never explain" mentality. However, it will be difficult to be quiet if the documentary attacks the Princess of Wales.

The expert continued that Charles could revoke the titles, Her Royal Highness and His Royal Highness. He noted that it was done when Princess Diana divorced immediately, and "that means something a great deal."

Another royal expert, Jack Royston, told Good Morning Britain that he believed Netflix would revisit a 2018 story, which claimed that Meghan made Kate cry after the Duchess of Sussex "unfavorably compared" Princess Charlotte to her best friend's daughter at a bridesmaid fitting.

King Charles III Revoking Royal Title

A source told The Daily Beast that King Charles III would be "very cautious of repeating the mistakes made with Diana," referring to a time when the late Princess was stripped of her HRH title after the divorce. The act reportedly fed into her narrative that the palace was a vindictive and cruel establishment.

"Imagine if they did something similar to Harry. He would be able to go on Oprah all over again and say, 'They did it to my mother and now they are doing it to me.' It would completely play into their victim narrative," the Daily Beast's insider noted.

The source said while it is possible for the monarch to get Parliament to formally strip Prince Harry and Meghan Meghan of their Sussex titles, doing it would open up a "Pandora's box" of problems.

The insider, who is reportedly not a palace staffer but acted as an informal adviser to the royal family for several years, noted that the palace will likely move "slowly and cautiously," adopting a "wait and see" approach on the matter.

The source said it is unlikely the Sussex couple will be told to stop using their "duke" and "duchess" titles as these can only be legally removed by an Act of Parliament.

Charles has yet to formally anointed Archie and Lilibet as Prince and Princess. The two still do not have those titles on the royal website.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Netflix Docuseries

The Sussex couple reportedly softened its portrayal of the royal family after the death of Queen Elizabeth II last September.

Some reports noted that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wanted to remove or downplay much of what they said about King Charles II, his wife Queen Consort Camilla, Prince William and Kate Middleton.

A source previously told Page Six that Harry and Markle seemed of wanting the series "to be held until next year, they want to stall," but it was unclear why they were so eager to make these changes.

The Netflix docuseries started filming in September 2021, with the couple seen with a videographer and photographer during a trip to New York City.

Netflix noted that the docuseries will be an "unprecedented and in-depth" show that will feature the "other side" of the Sussex couple. The six episodes will also include commentary from friends, family, and historians.
