Shia LaBeouf was arrested Thursday night for causing a disruption in a Broadway Theater.

The troubled 28-year-old movie star was led away in handcuffs from a showing of the musical "Cabaret" at New York's Studio 54 for drunken and belligerent behavior, police said.

According to CNN affiliate WABC, LaBeouf had been sitting in the audience when he allegedly disrupted the show during the first act and lit up a cigarette. The "Transformers" star was slapping people on the rear end and in the back of the head around 9:30 p.m., according to law enforcement sources.

Some witnesses said that they thought the "Nymphomaniac" star's outburst was just an act.

"He was brilliant," an audience member told WABC. "I thought he was working on a role or something."

Cops said that he was "incoherent" and "very agitated" when they approached him. He tried to quickly walk away from officers but fell over, the sources said. He was then arrested and charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, police spokesman Brian Sessa said.

"Just saw Shia LaBeouf in handcuffs in tears surrounded by 6 police officers outside of CABARET the musical," Benj Pasek tweeted, according to the Huffington Post.

However, the former Disney star went berserk when he reportedly arrived to the Midtown-North police station, the New York Post Page Six reported. He reportedly shouted profanities at cops, saying "I'll f*ck you up," and called an officer a "f*g." He was also muzzled with a face mask to stop him from spitting, sources said.

"I have millions and millions of dollars and attorneys," the actor said to the arresting officer. "I'm going to ruin your career."

New York police officer Adam Navarro said that LaBeouf had been processed and released shortly before 1 a.m. ET, USA Today reported.
