Lionel Messi's wife and the girlfriend of his archrival, Cristiano Ronaldo, took different paths in gifting their partners on Christmas Day. 

Messi spent his Christmas holidays in his hometown of Rosario in Argentina, while Ronaldo was in England at his Manchester home. The Christmas gifts of the partners of the two soccer superstars showed a sharp contrast in their lifestyles.

While one gave her partner a stunning six-figure Christmas gift, another gave her husband something simpler. Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo now seem to be going opposite paths in the twilight of their respective careers.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's Christmas Gifts From Their Wife, Partner

According to El Futbolero, Cristiano Ronaldo's partner, supermodel Georgina Rodriguez, gave the former Manchester United striker a shiny new Rolls Royce car worth $380,000.

Images of the lavish Christmas gift, complete with a ribbon, have recently circulated on social media. Rodriguez also took a video of Ronaldo's reaction to his brand-new luxury car with his family watching.

However, her Christmas gift was opposite to Lionel Messi's wife's gift ideas. According to Islander News, Messi's wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, arranged a quiet get-together in her husband's hometown in Argentina.

The Messi family spent Christmas together quietly and in a simple manner. Roccuzzo posted a photo of her with her husband and three sons beside a Christmas tree during the December celebration on Instagram with the caption, "Feliz Navidad." 

According to People, she also posted a video of her dancing in a festive red dress while sipping some white wine with her World Cup-winning hubby. However, the Messi family was not alone.

There are reports that Messi's old Barcelona teammate and good friend, Luis Suarez, was also there.

The Uruguayan striker, who was surprisingly eliminated in the group stages during the World Cup, also reportedly brought his family with him to Rosario to spend Christmas with the Messis.

What's Next for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo?

Lionel Messi's path will lead him back to Paris, as he chose to re-sign with Paris Saint-Germaine for another year, with the option to extend to another year.

Details are not ironed out yet, as Messi is still enjoying a much-needed break from soccer, relaxing quietly back home in Rosario while his teammates, including Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, are now playing back in PSG.

Talks will resume once Messi returns to France in early January. However, Parisian fans seem annoyed at Messi at the moment, as Messi's Argentina team defeated their France team.

Many PSG fans also felt that the Argentinian World Cup champion was vacationing a bit too much. Many netizens have also joked that it might be awkward in the PSG locker room as Messi also defeated his teammate, Kylian Mbappe.

As for Cristiano Ronaldo, things are still unclear where he will go following a disastrous World Cup campaign and a very rocky exit from Manchester United.

Clutch Points reported that Saudi Arabian club, Al-Nassr, has already offered him $200 million per season to play for them. However, Ronaldo has expressed wanting to play somewhere in Europe.

But many believed it might be hard to happen as teams are not interested in dealing with dramas like his rocky Manchester United exit, where he bashed the club in an interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan.
