Chicago Man Beat Up Woman He Met on Dating App, Tied Her to His Mom's Basement
A Chicago man was arrested after he allegedly held a woman he met on a dating app against her will and beat her. Police believed that the woman may have also been sexually assaulted.
Dolton police said the man had been holding the woman against her will in his mother's house since Sunday, Fox 32 Chicago reported. Police noted that the suspect's mother had no idea the woman was tied up in her basement.
Due to speculations that the woman was raped, police conducted a rape kit on the woman. The suspect is facing pending charges against him. Dolton Police Chief Robert Collins confirmed that the woman met the Chicago man "on some kind of dating app."

Chicago Man Kidnapped Woman He Met on Dating App
Police said the suspect and the woman went to an Advanced Auto Parts store on Sibley Boulevard in Dolton on Sunday. The Chicago man sent the woman into the store to buy something.
Police noted the woman in a surveillance photo walked into the store and asked for help. ABC 7 Chicago reported that the clerk said he saw visible bruises on the woman, adding that the injured victim seemed to be a "little distraught."
It was just after 5 p.m. when the two arrived at the auto parts store in the same car, according to the police. The victim walked in first, then the Chicago man followed.
Police said the woman approached the cashier and told them the situation, including that the suspect had a gun. At that point, the Chicago man reportedly went inside the store and told the woman that was enough, and they were leaving.
Robert Collins said the store personnel tried to stall as long as they could while they called the police. However, he noted that the suspect became impatient and took the woman out of the store.
The two employees said after the pair took off, they wrote down their vehicle's license plate and then called the police. Police noted that the vehicle the pair were traveling in was located Monday, but there was still no sign of either the man or the woman.
Dolton put out a critical alert to surrounding area police departments, together with the pair's pictures, and enlisted the Federal Bureau of Investigation's help in the search.
Other Dating App Crime
Last month, a man was accused of torturing a woman he held captive in Oregon. He was already convicted in Nevada for kidnapping another woman. Authorities said the man was using dating apps to find people who could help him avoid the police or to find new victims.
The 36-year-old suspect, identified as Benjamin Obadiah Foster, was the subject of a round-the-clock search by police after a woman was found unconscious. The woman was reportedly hospitalized in critical condition and was near death in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Foster managed to evade authorities, who managed to arrest a woman identified as Tina Marie Jones. Jones reportedly gave Foster a ride and transported Foster to a hiding place while the police were looking for him.
Grants Pass police said the suspect was using online dating apps to contact individuals who may be "lured into assisting with the suspect's escape," or possibly become another victim.
The reward for Foster's capture was $2,500 for anyone with information leading to his arrest. Foster is facing charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault in connection with the attack on the Grants Pass woman.
