Nashville School Shooting: Actress Melissa Joan Hart Helped Rescue Kindergarten Kids During Fatal Shooting
"Sabrina the Teenage Witch "herself was in Nashville when the fatal shooting at the Christian Covenant School happened. However, actress Melissa Joan Hart did not sit idly by as she helped in rescue efforts.
The "Clarissa" actress took to Instagram and said in an emotional video, "We helped a class of kindergartners across a busy highway." Her voice was breaking when she said, "that were climbing out of the woods - that were trying to, um, escape the shooter situation at their school. So we helped all these tiny little kids cross the road and get their teachers over there, and we helped a mom reunite with her children."
Hart and her husband were heading to their kids' school conferences on Monday when the deadly Nashville school shooting took place. This was when they started helping the kids escape the active shooter situation, according to the Associated Press.
Melissa Joan Hart and Family Had Experience With School Shootings Before
In a bit of irony, her kids previously attended a school near Sandy Hook Elementary, which was also the site of another deadly school shooting.
"This is our second experience with a school shooting with our kids being in close proximity. Luckily we are all OK," she said.
She added that she does not know what to say anymore and that "enough was enough." She also asked for prayers for all the families who have suffered in this tragedy.
According to NBC News, she and her husband, Mark Wilkerson, are parents of Mason, 17; Braydon, 15; and Tucker, 10. She noted in her Instagram video that they lived in Newtown, where Sandy Hook Elementary was located. The school was where a shooter killed 26 people in 2012.
