Puerto Rico is filled with beautiful beaches and stunning sights to see. This US territory, located in the Caribbean Sea, is filled with plenty of resorts where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy when you visit the island.

According to Travel + Leisure, Puerto Rico has been billed as the "island of enchantment" for many reasons, too. This can be seen in the many resorts that dot the island, which is very easy to travel to via the US mainland. Because it is still considered part of the United States, there are not many travel restrictions to get to Puerto Rico apart from securing a plane ticket.

The 5 Best Puerto Rico Resorts

While there are a lot of resorts around this Caribbean paradise, we have looked at five resorts that we think are the best among the rest, and they are (in no particular order):

Condado Vanderbilt Hotel

Located in the capital, San Juan, this Puerto Rican resort is ranked #1 by Trip Advisor. It boasts "Magnificent Spanish Revival architecture, stunningly opulent interiors, and dramatic ocean views frame the graceful facade." The hotel is also one of San Juan's most historic ones, first being built in 1919, and is the go-to hotel for many who want to visit the island in style.

Dorado Beach (Ritz Carlton)

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, is known for its beauty as it has one of the most beautiful and lavish properties on the Island, according to Discover Puerto Rico. It has two beaches that have plenty of activities, from water sports to just plain old swimming and snorkeling. It also boasts a lavish pool if you are not too fond of saltwater.

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Golf and Beach Resort

If you plan to play golf while on the island, however, the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar is the go-to resort. Not only does it have two golf courses; it also has a casino, spa, tennis courts, enormous pools, and many other activities. The resort also offers horseback riding in the rainforest or on the beach, as well as kayaking the bioluminescent bay in Fajardo.

The Royal Sonesta San Juan

This Puerto Rican resort overlooks Isla Verde Beach and faces toward the Atlantic Ocean. It is popular with not just leisure travelers, but those doing business while in Puerto Rico as well. It boasts seven restaurants and bars, a lagoon-style swimming pool with a swim-up bar, as well as a myriad of other activities.

Copamarina Beach Resort & Spa

Located in Guanica, this beautiful and peaceful tropical resort is located in an idyllic cove on the Caribbean Sea. Visitors can enjoy the resort in its many beach huts, as well as relax in its spa. For food lovers, it also has the famous Restaurante Alexandra. From this resort, visitors can also travel to the town of Ponce, which boasts plenty of museums and the Serralles Castle.
