Emmy Nominations 2023: 'Succession' Leads with 27 Nods; Guillermo del Toro, Jenna Ortega Among the Nominees
The recently announced nominations for 2023's 75th Emmy Awards have placed the spotlight on the shows that have dominated discussions over the past year, per Vanity Fair.
Notable series such as "The White Lotus," "Succession," "The Bear," "The Last of Us," "Beef," and "Ted Lasso" received significant recognition, with several nominations across various categories.
Leading the pack with an impressive 27 nominations is "Succession," making it the most nominated show this year.
HBO had a particularly successful morning, securing four nominations for Best Drama Series, and their freshman series, "The Last of Us," closely following "Succession" with 24 nominations.
HBO shows also received nominations in several acting categories, demonstrating their strong presence in the industry.
Emmy nominations 2023 highlighted the continued success and impact of these buzzy and talked-about shows, with HBO being a standout network in terms of recognition.
The stage is set for an exciting Emmy Awards ceremony, as viewers eagerly anticipate which shows and actors will come out on top.
While certain shows garnered significant attention and nominations, it was not limited to a few dominant platforms. Streaming giants such as Netflix, Apple TV+, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, and Peacock all had their fair share of contenders in the Emmy nominations.
Notably, the up-and-coming platform Amazon Freevee had a particularly successful showing, with multiple major nominations for their breakout hit series, "Jury Duty."
The 75th Emmy Awards
The 75th Emmy Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held on September 18. However, potential delays loom due to the ongoing writers' strike and a possible actors' strike, according to The Guardian.
Guild negotiations will play a crucial role in determining the resolution of these issues, and depending on the outcomes, the ceremony may be pushed back to November or January.
This uncertainty has also affected the Daytime Emmys, which was initially scheduled for June but has been postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date.
Television Academy President Frank Scherma expressed the hope for swift and fair resolutions in the ongoing guild negotiations during the announcement of this year's Emmy nominations.
In the previous year, notable wins were secured by shows like "Succession," "The White Lotus," and "Ted Lasso."
