Mandy Moore Reveals Son's Rare Skin Condition Called Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome
Mandy Moore, the 39-year-old actress, recently shared on her Instagram Story that her 2-year-old son, Gus, has been experiencing a "crazy rash" for almost a week, according to ET.
Alongside a picture of Gus enjoying a lollipop after a doctor's appointment, Moore expressed her concern about the rash and the efforts made to identify its cause and provide relief for her son.
Moore and her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, have two children, Gus, 2, and Ozzie, 9 months old.
Despite the health scare, Moore praised Gus for his resilient and positive attitude, describing him as a "rock star" who continues to smile, laugh, and carry on with his day even while dealing with the discomfort of the rash.
The couple sought medical attention from specialists, including urgent care, pediatricians, dermatologists, and pediatric dermatologists, to address the situation.

Mandy Moore's Son Is Diagnosed With Gianotti-Crosti Syndrome
Mandy Moore further updated her Instagram Story, revealing that her son Gus has been diagnosed with Gianotti Crosti syndrome, a rare skin condition in children characterized by a papular rash with blisters on the skin of the legs, buttocks, and arms.
The condition is believed to be a viral childhood rash that appears spontaneously and is often associated with a cold, but not in Gus' case, Billboard noted.
The rash is all over Mandy Moore's son, Gus' legs and feet, as well as the backs of his arms, but nowhere else on his body, said Moore.
The treatment for the condition involves using a steroid cream and giving Benadryl to relieve itching, but it's noted that the rash could persist for 6-8 weeks.
Mandy Moore expressed her feelings of helplessness as a parent, acknowledging that parenting can be challenging and unpredictable, but she also emphasized the resilience of children.
She expressed her gratitude that it's only an itchy skin condition and mentioned that as long as Gus is smiling through it, they are doing okay.
The "This Is Us" actress shared her experience as a mother, emphasizing the ups and downs of parenting and the importance of supporting and caring for her child during difficult times.
Mandy Moore: 'Having Concentrated Family Time Is Special'
Mandy Moore has actively participated in the picket line for the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. However, she shared with PEOPLE that she is trying to focus on the positive side of the situation by appreciating the extra time she has with her two sons.
As an actress, Moore returned to work relatively soon after giving birth to both of her sons, making this current period of not working even more special for her.
She values concentrated family time and acknowledges that these moments are fleeting, which has motivated her to be present and fully appreciate her time with her children.
Despite her life's challenges and busy nature, Mandy Moore emphasized that this is a unique and precious time for her family, and she is making the most of it.
The special bond and memories she created with her sons during this period will be cherished for years to come.
