Idaho Killings: Lori Vallow Daybell Gets Punishment Over 'Doomsday' Murder Plot
The infamous "Doomsday Cult Mom" Lori Vallow Daybell finally received her sentence after being found guilty of the Idaho killings of her own children to receive their insurance money.
The 50-year-old Idaho mom killed her two children, 7-year-old Joshua "J.J." Vallow and 16-year-old Tylee Ryan, back in 2019 and was found guilty of the crime. She was also found guilty of conspiring to kill her husband's first wife, Tamara Daybell, who died on Oct. 19, 2019, according to ABC News.
Because of these crimes, Judge Steven Boyce sentenced her to life in prison without parole, mentioning that Lori Vallow Daybell "lived a law-abiding life" until this case. He then added that she suffers from mental health issues, noting, "Something radically changed in you that led you to where you are today."
The judge also stated that a mother killing her children is the most "unimaginable type of murder" and addressed the infamous "Doomsday Cult Mom," saying, "You had so many other options. ... You could have found someone to take care of those kids."
He then talked about her plot to get their insurance money, saying, "You killed those children ... to remove them as obstacles and to profit financially."
Idaho Killings Suspect Lori Vallow Daybell Insisted She Is Innocent
The "Doomsday Cult Mom" finally addressed the court for the first time and insisted she is innocent.
"Jesus knows me, and Jesus understands me," she said and added that she mourns the people who died.
However, she then added. "Jesus Christ knows that no one was murdered in this case."
NPR noted that the Idaho killings suspect had a roughly 8 1/2 minute-speech as she talked about her own account. She stated that in 2002, she underwent a "personal transformation." claiming to have a near-death experience while giving birth to Tylee.
"I had access to Heaven, and the spirit world," she said. "Since then, I have had many communications from people now living in Heaven, including my children."
She then claimed that she knows her children are happy and busy in the spirit world and that her "friend" Tammy Daybell is "also very happy and extremely busy."
"Tylee has visited me. She is happy ... and free now," said Lori Vallow Daybell, and claimed that her son visited her as "an adult spirit," describing him as "very tall and is thriving in the afterlife." She then finished her speech and stated that she is "fully satisfied" with how her lawyers represented her during her trial.
Lori Vallow Daybell Wanted Her Children's Insurance Money
Vallow Daybell is now serving multiple life sentences, and it was mainly because the prosecutors successfully laid out the case around the theme of "money, power, and sex."
According to USA Today, prosecutors argued that the Idaho killer manipulated her late brother, Alex Cox, into fatally killing her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, Tylee's father. She also manipulated Cox into helping her lover-turned-fifth husband, Chad Daybell, into doing other crimes.
Tylee was receiving insurance money from the death of her father, and Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell conspired to receive this insurance money, so they killed their own children.
After days of searching, authorities found the bodies of the two children buried in a property belonging to her husband, Chad Daybell, a would-be cult leader. He is also facing similar charges to his wife and will be tried separately.
