After claiming that he would present "evidence" that would absolve him of his alleged crimes in Georgia, Donald Trump has canceled the supposed press conference.

As Latin Post previously reported, Trump was advised not to go through with the press conference by his own attorneys as presenting dubious "evidence" to prove he is innocent might complicate the case even further. This seems to be the case as Trump reportedly heeded their advice and outright canceled the event, which was supposed to be held Monday in his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey.

"Rather than releasing the Report on the Rigged & Stolen Georgia 2020 Presidential Election on Monday, my lawyers would prefer putting this, I believe, Irrefutable & Overwhelming evidence of Election Fraud & Irregularities in formal Legal Filings as we fight to dismiss this disgraceful Indictment by a publicity & campaign finance seeking D.A., who sadly presides over a record breaking Murder & Violent Crime area, Atlanta. Therefore, the News Conference is no longer necessary!" wrote Trump on Truth Social on Thursday evening.

Politico noted that Trump announced the press conference on Truth Social and claimed that he has compiled "A Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia." However, Trump's attorneys have grown increasingly concerned regarding the ex-POTUS' plans for the news conference.

It was not clear what sort of "evidence" Donald Trump would have presented, though a vast majority of Trump's claims have already been proven false in the court of law. Critics say this was just Trump trying to win in the "court of public opinion" as he runs for president again.

Donald Trump Lawyers Want Federal Election Interference Trial Delayed Until 2026

As Donald Trump cancels his plans to muddle the waters in the Georgia election case, his attorneys are trying to delay his federal election interference case.

In a recent court filing, his lawyers recommended starting the trial in April 2026, stating, "This is an unprecedented case in American history. The incumbent administration has targeted its primary political opponent-and leading candidate in the upcoming presidential election-with criminal prosecution."

According to NBC News, Trump attorneys accused the Biden administration of trying to "deny President Trump and his counsel a fair ability to prepare for trial."

The attorneys also asked the judge to reject Special Counsel Jack Smith's request to have the trial date set for January 2, 2024.

Majority of Americans Say They Would Not Support Donald Trump in 2024

While Trump is the clear frontrunner for the Republican nomination, recent polls show he might not do as well nationally, as USA Today pointed out.

The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research recently conducted a poll that showed that "53% of Americans say they would definitely not support Trump if he is the Republican nominee next year."

Additionally, 11% of respondents say they probably would not support Trump in the presidential elections in November 2024.
