Republican Infighting Continues: GOP Senators Grow Frustrated Over Tommy Tuberville Blocking Military Promotions
The Republican infighting rages on in Congress as GOP Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama is becoming an unpopular figure among other Senate Republicans for continuing to block military promotions.
While Republican infighting has been well documented in the House, it has been brewing in the Senate as well, with GOP Senators clearly divided over several issues such as the military and Israel. However, many of these Republican senators, especially the hawks, are especially getting frustrated with Tuberville over his holdouts.
Tuberville refuses to promote several military personnel to key positions. This leaves much of the US military without leadership and current military leaders in position being reportedly overworked as they are doing multiple roles because these key positions have not been filled up yet.
To deal with this, GOP senators have called a meeting on Tuesday to confront Tuberville as he continues to block almost 400 military nominations. Several Senate Republicans have publicly voiced their frustrations with Tuberville, and this was shown last week when the Alabama senator objected to all 61 military nominations that his fellow Republicans were trying to call up.
Other Senate Republicans are even contemplating legal action and have vowed to try to force more votes on the nomination, per the Associated Press.
Democrats, which control the Senate, are now trying to consider ways to have military nominees passed over Tuberville's objections. However, this is a temporary measure that is making Republicans worry that it could erode their minority powers in the Senate.
Why Tommy Tuberville Is Holding Up Military Nominees
The attempt by Democrats to move nominees has divided the Senate among party lines, and it has gotten worse for Republicans as their infighting continues because of Sen. Tommy Tuberville.

"It's come to a head," Sen. Mike Rounds, a Republican from South Dakota, told The Hill. "We've done our best to try to work through the issues, but with everything going on in the world, it's time to address the concern."
Tuberville continues to block military nominees because he is protesting the Pentagon's policy on abortion, and it looks like he is not getting swayed from his position any time soon, not even from his fellow Republicans.
Tommy Tuberville Aide Complicates Republican Infighting as GOP Senators Decry Recent Moves
The Senate GOP is currently in uproar after a spokesperson for Sen. Tommy Tuberville sparked some backlash earlier this month. That Tuberville aide reportedly floated primary challengers for senators who vote to end Tuberville's blockade of military promotions in private.
The spokesperson has been identified as Steven Stafford, who recently sent an email to anti-abortion groups to publicly oppose Senate Republicans who are criticizing Tuberville.
"In my opinion, it is imperative for all of the groups to make clear, in some words, that any Republican who votes for this will be primaried," he told the groups.
The Alabama Republican says that despite other Republicans objecting, he plans to continue holding up the military nominations.
