For the first time since the David DePape trial began, Paul Pelosi, husband of former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, finally testified regarding the heinous attack by the Trump supporter inside his own San Francisco, California home.

DePape battered the elderly California businessman right in front of responding police officers. The entire attack was caught on police bodycam and dispelled the many conspiracy theories regarding the attack, including one that claimed that DePape was Paul Pelosi's gay lover.

"The door opened and a very large man came in with a hammer in one hand and some [zip]ties in the other," testified Pelosi when asked what woke him up during the night of October 28, 2022. He stated that he was asleep when DePape "burst through the door he woke me up."

When asked how far the defendant was from him, Paul Pelosi replied, "He was standing in the doorway, he was 3 to 4 feet [away] ... It was a tremendous shock, looking at him, looking at the hammer and the ties ... I recognized I was in serious danger I tried to stay as calm as possible."

In his testimony, the California businessman revealed that the defendant had been looking for his wife, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as DePape had been asking, "Where's Nancy?" several times. The elderly Pelosi noted that she was still in Washington DC, but the Trump supporter stated that he was going to wait for her.

"He said, she was the leader of the pack, he had to take her out, he was going to wait for her," said Paul Pelosi. "He was going to tie me up and wait for her."

David DePape Wanted To Hold Nancy Pelosi Hostage and Break Her Kneecaps

DePape may face life imprisonment should he be found guilty and convicted. The defendant pleaded not guilty to his charges, which included attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary, and other felonies.

Paul Pelosi successfully stalled DePape from restraining him and was even able to alert authorities regarding the break-in. When police arrived, they found the two struggling for a hammer, and they immediately ordered both to stand down. While Pelosi complied, DePape did not and went on to pummel Pelosi, fracturing his skull, leading to the arrest.

According to the Associated Press, while in custody, the 43-year-old defendant allegedly told a San Francisco detective that he planned to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage and force her to tell "the truth." If she did not, he admitted that he was going to "break her kneecaps" to show other members of Congress there were "consequences to actions."

Donald Trump Pokes Fun at Paul Pelosi as Trial of One of His Supporters Goes On

David DePape may be a Canadian citizen living in California, but he had been radicalized by the US political climate and has been adhering to QAnon conspiracy theories while becoming an ardent supporter of Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, the man he was supporting, Trump himself, attacked Paul Pelosi on the campaign trail. During a speech, he mocked Nancy Pelosi's husband and joked about the hammer attack done by one of his supporters, saying the wall around the Pelosi household did not work very well.
