Tyreek Hill Home Catches Fire
Southwest Ranches witnessed a dramatic scene on Wednesday afternoon as flames consumed the home of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill, CBS Sports reports.
Aerial footage captured the efforts of firefighters battling the blaze, revealing Tyreek Hill home shrouded in heavy smoke.
Rescue crews, necessitating roof cuts to control the fire, worked diligently to manage the situation.
A fire official revealed Thursday that the blaze originated from a child playing with a cigarette lighter in a bedroom.
Davie Fire Marshal Robert Taylor clarified, "It was an accidental fire."
At the time of the incident, Hill was at practice, but upon learning of the event, he left the team facility in Miami Gardens.
Fortunately, everyone in the residence evacuated safely.
"Tyreek has been communicating with his family. Everyone is out of the house and safe at this time. He has also left practice to deal with the situation," the Dolphins affirmed in a statement.
Tyreek Hill Home
Tyreek Hill home, a mansion boasting seven bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms, was constructed in 2007, encompassing 9,326 square feet on a 2.28-acre plot, according to property records.
The residence, situated in Southwest Ranches, was acquired by Tyreek Hill after his trade from the Kansas City Chiefs to the Miami Dolphins in the 2022 season, according to ESPN.
His four-year, $120 million extension, with $72.2 million guaranteed, accompanied the move.
The star wide receiver, leading the NFL with 1,717 receiving yards, remains focused on aiding the Dolphins against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night.
A win in this crucial game could secure the AFC East for Miami, a feat not accomplished since 2008.
Tyreek Hill's teammates expressed concern and offered support, emphasizing the need for unity during challenging times.
Post-Fire Scene and Community Response
Chopper 4 images captured Tyreek Hill in his driveway, wearing a leg brace extending up to his left knee, per CBS News.
Firefighters worked diligently for approximately 45 minutes to extinguish the blaze from Tyreek Hill home, leaving a significant hole in the roof and causing substantial smoke and water damage.
As news of the fire spread, fans rushed to the scene to check on Hill and his family.
"Pretty sad, he is my favorite player, and it's devastating," a fan named Anthony Candelario said, expressing his sorrow.
The extent of the child's connection to the home remains unclear - whether residing there or visiting.
Rebecca Johnson, part of the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue's Fire Prevention Unit, emphasized the importance of educating children about fire dangers.
"They learn from imitating. So they don't think it's a danger using matches or a lighter until it's too late," Johnson said, emphasizing the influence of parental behavior on children's perceptions.
Investigators will delve into the cause of the fire, marking a distressing chapter for Dolphins star Tyreek Hill and the community.
