Fox News Drops MyPillow as Sponsor After Not Being Paid For Months; CEO Mike Lindell Claims Network Canceled His Company
More financial woes for MyPillow CEO and Donald Trump ally Mike Lindell have come as Fox News dropped his ads from being aired. However, Lindell is claiming he had been canceled by the conservative network while also admitting he has not paid them for months.
A Fox News source told Axios that MyPillow has not paid its advertising fee in Fox News since August, prompting the conservative network to finally drop the pillow company from its advertising line-up in a move that shocked many as MyPillow was known as one of the top advertisers in the network as it previously allowed Lindell to spread his unfounded conspiracy theories on air.
Lindell is facing various financial and legal problems as he also owes millions to law firms who represented him in various defamation lawsuits from Dominion Voting Systems and Smartmatic regarding his false claims that the 2020 elections were stolen.
However, the Fox News source told Axios that "As soon as their account is paid, we would be happy to accept their advertising." This is counter to Lindell's previous claim that the network canceled him, though it seems that this was only a pause in the partnership as Lindell has not paid Fox News yet.
MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell Admits He Owes Fox News Millions in Advertising
After Fox News clarified that they dropped Lindell's MyPillow for not paying them, the Donald Trump ally spoke with the Associated Press and acknowledged that MyPillow owes money to Fox Corp. He reportedly admitted that he may have owed them $7.8 million, but he insisted that the sum is "within his credit line with the network."
Lindell added during the interview that his company has "long spent an average of $1 million a week to run its ads" on Fox News, adding that the Murdoch-owned conservative network had "long allowed him 12 weeks of credit until it recently cut that to eight weeks."
Lindell is claiming that Fox News wants to silence him "because I want to secure our election platforms," which the network is disputing. He also claimed that the network is "sore" with him because his Lindell TV/FrankSpeech online channel recently hired former Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, who was previously fired from the network for spreading false information on TV.
Lou Dobbs interviewed Donald Trump on the Lindell-owned streaming platform where the former president continued to claim his debunked talking point that the 2020 elections were stolen.
MyPillow Previously Dropped by Other Companies Over Mike Lindell Peddling False Information
This is not the first time that such a large company like Fox News has dropped MyPillow. Previously, several major retailers, including Walmart, dropped MyPillow products from their shelves, but it was more because of Mike Lindell's antics than his not paying them.
According to the New York Daily News, Lindell's peddling of his conspiracy theories regarding the election led to massive backlash, and this backlash led the big retailers to drop MyPillow from their shelves.
Despite the drama surrounding his company these days, however, Lindell is claiming that MyPillow is doing "great" and that his ads are still running on other platforms, including Newsmax, which admittedly does not have the same number of viewership as Fox News.
