After weeks of Hunter Biden offering to testify in public, House Republicans from the House Oversight Committee have now called in the Joe Biden son to testify in public over the Biden impeachment inquiry, which hit a massive snag after their "star witness," Alexander Smirnov, admitted that his testimony was false and that he was working for Russian intelligence.

Oversight Committee Chair James Comer extended an invite to Hunter Biden so he could testify at a hearing titled "Influence Peddling: Examining Joe Biden's Abuse of Public Office." The hearing is scheduled for March 20, per The Independent.

Comer says he "fully expects" the presidential son, accused of influence peddling, will attend the hearing. His business associates, Devon Archer, Tony Bobulinski, and Jason Galanis, were also invited to testify at the March 20 hearing,

All four Hunter Biden business associates previously testified behind closed doors but House Republicans failed to find actual admissible evidence that Joe Biden was connected to his son's business dealings. This was made worse when it was found out that they were tricked by their own "star witness," Alexander Smirnov, who is now under custody for lying to the FBI and admitting he was coached by Russian agents regarding his testimony.

"The American people deserve the facts about the Biden family's corrupt influence peddling and Oversight Republicans will work to ensure accountability and press for answers to inform legislative solutions to prevent this abuse of power," said Comer in inviting the presidential son to testify.

In the closed-door hearings, the House Oversight Committee found no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of President Joe Biden, even after conducting seven witness interviews.

Hunter Biden Points Out Matt Gaetz Hypocrisy During Closed-Door Hearing

Hunter Biden himself testified in that closed-door hearing, being grilled by Republican members of the House Oversight Committee, including controversial Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, who is being investigated for child sex trafficking and is accused of drug use.

"Were you on drugs when you were on the Burisma board?" asked Gaetz when it was finally his turn to question the presidential son. This prompted Hunter Biden to fire back, saying, "Mr. Gaetz, look me in the eye. You really think that's appropriate to ask me?"

"Absolutely," the Florida Republican with a known history of cocaine use stated. However, Hunter Biden once again stood his ground, saying, "Of all the people sitting around this table, do you think that's appropriate to ask me?"

"I will answer it this way: I have been absolutely transparent about my drug use," the presidential son continued. "Again, I spoke to you all earlier this morning about that. I'm sorry; I'm an addict. I was an addict. I have been in recovery for over four and a half years now, Mr. Gaetz. I work really, really hard at it. What does that have to do with whether or not you're going to go forward with an impeachment of my father other than to simply try to embarrass me?"

Republicans at the Defensive After Alexander Smirnov Outed as a Russian Agent in Hunter Biden Probe

The Republicans at the House Oversight Committee hedged their case on the testimony of Alexander Smirnov, an American businessman with ties to Ukraine and Russia. However, when it was revealed that Smirnov lied not just to them, but also to the FBI, their case went up in smoke. However, that did not stop them from doubling down on the Hunter Biden case.

"The impeachment investigation essentially ended yesterday, in substance if not in form, with the explosive revelation that Mr. Smirnov's allegations about Ukrainian Burisma payments to Joe Biden were concocted along with Russian intelligence agents," House Democrat Jamie Raskin told reporters.

Despite this, House Republicans claimed that their case was not "reliant" upon the claims made by Smirnov, despite hyping him up as a credible source and would be the one to bring down the Bidens.
