Melania Trump made a rare public appearance during a fundraiser for her husband, ex-President Donald Trump, but she did not look happy. This led the internet to viciously mock the former president as Melania was seen constantly looking at the clock and waiting to get out.

Melania was supposed to have appeared at a Mar-a-Lago fundraiser on Friday as she was honored with a "Child Advocacy Award." However, as they were announcing the award, she did not appear, causing Donald Trump to accept the award on her behalf instead, in what may have been an embarrassing moment for the former president.

However, the next day, Melania finally appeared alongside her husband, but as MTN Editor-in-Chief Ron Filipkowski puts it, "Melania looks like she's in a hostage video tonight. Blink twice if you need help."

"Melania Trump looks thrilled as ever to be with Donald Trump at his fundraiser in Florida last night," tweeted Mike Sington, Senior Executive at NBCUniversal, also posting a photo of an unhappy-looking former First Lady.

Yahoo! News reported that The Saturday fundraiser was a rare appearance for the former First Lady as Melania Trump has only appeared publicly for her husband's campaign twice this election year. The fundraiser was for Trump's ultra-wealthy backers as he raised $50 million for the Trump campaign after he promised to keep taxes for the rich low.

As the internet mocked Donald Trump over his wife's uncomfortable look during the fundraiser, the former president offered some excuses for why she had been absent during his campaign events.

Trump also claimed that keeping Melania out of the limelight during the election season was his decision, adding that d he wanted to "keep her away" from the campaign because "It's so nasty and so mean."

Previously, a close aide to Melania Trump stated that she is the one who chooses when and how to show up to political functions. First Post noted that she may become more noticeable as the election approaches as she has already been scheduled to appear at a Mar-a-Lago event for the Log Cabin Republicans on April 20.

Donald Trump Promised Billionaires To Keep Their Taxes Low

As to why Trump raised so much money, the former president, who has a vested interest in keeping his taxes low as he is a billionaire himself, told the wealthy donors in attendance that he might extend his signature tax cuts to the wealthy.

"Trump spoke on the need to win back the White House so we can turn our country around, focusing on key issues including unleashing energy production, securing our southern border, reducing inflation, extending the Trump Tax Cuts, eliminating Joe Biden's insane [electric vehicle] mandate, protecting Israel, and avoiding global war," the Trump Campaign said in a statement. However, the campaign refused to give a full transcript of the former president's remarks.
