Donald Trump will finally stand trial on Monday. However, despite his gag order, the former president may have landed in more trouble for his latest rants targeting potential witnesses. He also attacked the judge and prosecutor in his hush money trial, though he is allowed to do that, per the gag order.

Before the trial even started, Trump took to Truth Social to rant about two potential witnesses against him, Mike Pomerantz and his own former lawyer, Michael Cohen, testing the limits of his gag order that prevents him from making public statements about likely witnesses and jurors.

"Has Mark POMERANTZ been prosecuted for his terrible acts in and out of the D.A.'s Office. Has disgraced attorney and felon Michael Cohen been prosecuted for LYING?" Trump posted on his social media platform.

Michael Cohen was once Trump's top attorney but had a falling out with him after the former president threw Cohen under the bus and landed his former attorney in jail. Meanwhile, Pomerantz is a former prosecutor who once led an investigation into the former president's hush money payments before he resigned from the case in 2022, according to CNBC.

It is still unclear if Trump will be punished for these attacks, but Judge Juan Merchan recently expanded the gag order to family members of court personnel, including the judge, as well as family members of prosecutors. He is still allowed to make comments against the judge and prosecutors.

As for the trial, it will finally kick off on Monday, with Trump facing 34 criminal counts related to falsifying business records. This is in relation to his alleged attempts to hide his $130,000 hush money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.

Donald Trump Attacks Judge and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg

Trump did not just attack two possible witnesses in his hush money trial but also the judge and the lead prosecutor in the case as he tried to win the case in the court of public opinion.

During a rally in Pennsylvania, the former president called his upcoming trial a "communist show trial" and claimed that his indictment was a "badge of honor" before casting himself as a martyr for his supporters, claiming, "I'm proud to do it for you."

"On Monday in New York City, I will be forced to sit, fully gagged," added Donald Trump, once again complaining about the gag order imposed against him for his penchant for whipping supporters up to a violent frenzy, often leading them to attack specific people that have irked him or just leave them death threats.

Donald Trump's Unsubstantiated Claims About Hush Money Case Fact-Checked

Trump has gotten a reputation for spreading misinformation about his cases and his supporters believe him no matter what. CNN recently took a look at some of his claims and fact-checked them.

For Trump's baseless claims that President Joe Biden, his possible opponent for the 2024 general election in November, is running the case, CNN noted that "There is no basis for Trump's claims. First, there is no evidence that Biden, his White House, or his Justice Department has had any role in launching or running Bragg's case, let alone that Biden operatives are issuing secret commands in the case - and Bragg is a locally elected official who does not report to the federal government."

CNN then added, "Second, there is no evidence the White House or the Biden administration had anything to do with Colangelo's decision to leave the Justice Department and join the district attorney's office as senior counsel to Bragg; Colangelo and Bragg had been colleagues before Bragg was elected Manhattan district attorney in 2021." Finally, the cable news network pointed out that Bragg was Colangelo's boss, not the other way around.

Trump also spreads "Whataboutism" arguments, claiming Manhattan has hit all-time highs for murder and violent crime in an effort to throw doubt against the case against him. It was noted that Manhattan "is nowhere near record highs for murder or violent crime more broadly."
