Republican Infighting Continues as House GOP Blames Marjorie Taylor Greene for Lack of Border Wins, Call Her an 'Idiot'

The failure to pass a bipartisan border package supported by many Republicans has been blamed on none other than far-right Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and the House Freedom Caucus as the infighting in the party continues as the election approaches fast.

This comes amid a string of Democratic victories in the House as the bill to fund Ukraine was passed even though several prominent Republicans led by Greene have been very vocal about opposing it. Her ultra-conservative wing of the GOP has led the Republican backlash against the bill, with Greene even leading a failed attempt to kick Republican Speaker Mike Johnson out of his position.

Because Greene pushed Johnson enough that he sought help from Democrats to save his position, many members of the Republican Party believe they could have gotten concessions from the Democrats on border policy in exchange for Ukraine funding. This suggestion was blown up by the party's more conservative members, according to Axios.

It was actually the Republican leadership that brought these border security provisions up in addition to the foreign aid package to Ukraine, but other Republicans blocked it from reaching the House floor under normal rules.

After it failed to get the two-thirds majority needed to pass the House under suspension of the rules, House Republicans were quick to blame one another for its failure, with Rep. Andy Barr of Kentucky stating, "If you were a true conservative, you would actually advance border security, but what they want to do is they want to blow up border security."

"The members who scream the loudest about border security were actively and knowingly preventing us from getting it done," another member told the outlet, while another stated, "They're making us the most bipartisan Congress ever because they are unwilling to compromise just a little bit in a divided government, they force us to make bigger concessions and deals with the Dems."

Marjorie Taylor Greene Called an 'Idiot' by Conservative News Outlets

Because of her rabid opposition to the Ukraine aid bill, Marjorie Taylor Greene has earned the ridicule of some of her conservative colleagues, with the Murdoch-owned New York Post ridiculing her on its Sunday paper front page, calling her "Moscow Marjorie."

Another Murdoch arm, Fox News, also ridiculed Greene, with columnist Liz Peek calling her an "idiot." She added that the Georgia Republican needs to "turn all that bombastic self-serving showmanship and drama queen energy on Democrats."

The Wall Street Journal, also owned by the conservative Murdoch family, called her "Rep. Mayhem Taylor Greene" and even accused her and her far-right allies of being "most interested in TV hits and internet donors."

Russia Praises Marjorie Taylor Greene, Leading to More Ridicule

With her opposition to the Ukraine bill, Russian state media has praised Marjorie Taylor Greene, with Russian propaganda going into overdrive to use her words in their favor, with a state-sanctioned TV host saying, "She believes that Americans should help Putin win. Yes, you heard that right. To help him win in Ukraine."

Russian propagandists have also lauded her claims that the US is "supporting Nazis in Ukraine." This praise from the Russians led to Florida Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz mocking the Georgia representative and stating that he wants her appointed "as Vladimir Putin's Special Envoy to the United States Congress."
