With 1.6 million people in attendance, the Copacabana Beach concert was the ageless popstar's biggest concert crowd size. The concert dwarfed even Taylor Swift's concert, which broke records in itself. This showed that even at 65, Madonna can still draw internationally.

The concert was free thanks to Riotur, the city's official tourism agency. Brazilian performers Anitta and Pabllo Vittar were guest performers in the free show, with Vittar even helping the popstar shift her track "Music" into a samba.

After the concert, Madonna expressed her gratitude for her biggest crowd ever, saying, "Words cannot express my gratitude!" as she posted a drone-captured video of the concert on social media.

As NPR noted, this was not the biggest crowd size ever at Copacabana, as the 1994 New Year's Eve show with Rod Stewart reportedly drew some 4.2 million attendees. However, Madonna's concert beat the Rolling Stones' concert numbers there, with the band famously drawing 1.5 million people to the world-famous beach.

Brazil was the final stop for the pop legend's "Celebration" tour, and it was also her only performance in South America for that tour.

Madonna Free Concert in Brazil Was a Spectacle With Drones and Helicopters

The "Queen of Pop" truly lived up to her name with her concert in Brazil, kicking off the night with a performance of her 1998 hit "Nothing Really Matters."

As her concert began, the crowd was packed but thoroughly enjoyed one of the largest concerts ever held in the country. Helicopters and drones buzzed over the beach as many watched that show. There were even some boats in the water as they watched Madonna's performance from afar.

"Here we are in the most beautiful place in the world, this place is magic," she told the Brazilian crown as she pointed out to the ocean view, the mountains, and the Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking the city, according to the Associated Press.

Brazil Officials Were on High Alert for Madonna Concert After a Fan Died During Taylor Swift's Concert

With over a million people in attendance, police in Brazil were tense as Madonna performed. This was mainly because they did not want a repeat of what happened during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert, where a fan died due to the extreme heat.

Since the performance was at the beach, firefighters were ordered firefighters to cool down fans by spraying water on them before the concert. Unlike the Taylor Swift concert, they also handed out free drinking water.

Over 3,000 police officers were also present during the concert to help keep the peace, according to The Guardian.
