Joe Biden has acknowledged that he did very poorly as he showed his age during last night's presidential debate as he has been described as meandering and even freezing at one point. Meanwhile, Donald Trump was criticized for lying again despite looking better than his opponent, making false claims left and right, with CNN also being criticized for not calling out his lies as the debate was going on.

During a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, Biden acknowledged the criticisms regarding his age, saying, "I don't debate as well as I used to." However, he added, "I know how to do this job. I know how to get things done."

According to the Associated Press, Biden looked a lot more animated than he was during the debate. During the rally, he slammed Trump for his "lies" throughout the debate and also for waging a campaign aimed at "revenge and retribution."

The choice in this election is simple: Donald Trump will destroy our democracy. I will defend it," he told the North Carolina crowd before adding, "When you get knocked down, you get back up."

The Biden campaign went on to address the concerns privately and keep donors and surrogates on board. Other Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, acknowledged Biden's poor showing, including North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper.

"Well, the president didn't have a good night, but neither did Donald Trump with lie after lie and his dark vision for America," he told the AP. "We cannot send Donald Trump back to the White House. He's an existential threat to our nation."

Even former President Barack Obama acknowledged his former vice president flubbing the debate but did provide some insight, tweeting, "Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself."

CNN Failed to Fact-Check Donald Trump During the Presidential Debate

As many expected, Donald Trump lied throughout the debate, and CNN, which hosted it, was slammed for not doing anything about the former president and convicted felon constantly spreading misinformation and half-truths to voters.

As The Guardian noted, CNN moderators did not fact-check statements live. However, whenever Trump would avoid a question, they would reiterate it. Despite this, it only made Trump finally answer the question sometimes.

More Fact-Chacks on Donald Trump's Claims During Presidential Debate Vs. Joe Biden

The media did not just carefully scrutinize every word Joe Biden said, but also Donald Trump's, as they pointed out the former president's many falsehoods and half-truths during the CNN debate.

Donald Trump falsely claimed Democrats want abortions up until and after birth and that Nancy Pelosi refused his offer for national guard troops on 6 January 2021 to respond to the rioters he himself whipped up to attack the Capitol. Donald Trump was not able to back these claims up.

He also claimed that Joe Biden has "the largest deficit in the history of our country," but BBC fact-checked that under Biden, the deficit went down to $1.7tn. This is almost half the budget deficit under the Trump presidency, which was at t $3.13tn.

Trump also claimed Biden was behind his conviction, also without evidence. The BBC fact-check noted, "The case was brought by New York prosecutors rather than any federal authority. The Department of Justice does not approve the charging decisions of the Manhattan district attorney's office."
