As if this NBA offseason couldn't get anymore wild and exciting for basketball fans, it looks as if the madness will continue, as the Cleveland Cavaliers, fresh off signing the NBA's biggest star in the NBA in LeBron James, may be one step closer to acquiring superstar scorer Kevin Love.

The catch? It would cost them No.1 NBA Draft pick Andrew Wiggins.

Just weeks after being drafted No. 1 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Wiggins may be heading to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Wiggins was a standout at Kansas, but reports have shown that such a deal could possibly include Love.

Love has been in trade talks for months and has expressed his desire to play elsewhere. He has played with Timberwolves for six seasons and hasn't been able to make the postseason even one time. Playing in a tough Western Conference and managements inability to provide a great surrounding cast all played a role in the Timberwolves' playoff absence.

This trade may seem ridiculous for the Timberwolves and their fans are upset, but they have to do it.

"Why?" some may ask. Why trade a double-double machine who is 6-foot-10 and can shoot three pointers? Because if you don't trade him now and get value, he may walk for nothing next season. Love is currently under contract with the Wolves and is scheduled to make just over $15.7 million next season. The following year, he has an opt-out clause and can test the free agent market. It's way to risky for the Wolves to keep Love for next year and he leaves the team while you get nothing in return.

Case in point, we recently saw LeBron James use his opt-out rights and leave the Miami Heat. While the Heat could afford getting Luol Deng to step in, Minnesota isn't in the position to say the same if Love walks.

Assuming this goes through and we see Love in a Cavaliers uniform next season, the Eastern Conference layout is going to look significantly different.James can't do everything, and he knows that. Bringing in Love would take a lot of pressure off the four-time league MVP. Love isn't just a good rebounder and scorer who plays a lot minutes, but he also has success from the perimeter. He still needs to work on his defensive play, but like James said "this will take time."

A Love-added Cavaliers team would easily make them a top four seed in the Eastern Conference. Only the Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls and Toronto Raptors would be able to even compete with them. The Heat are obviously now without James and the Bulls still have a questionable offense, at best, with Rose's health always a huge concern. It looks as if only the Pacers, who finished last season as the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, will battle it out with the Cavaliers for the top spot in the East.

The Pacers and James always seem to find one another one it matters most, with James having the upper hand. A LeBron James-led team has eliminated the Pacers from three consecutive postseasons. Still, the Pacers have a great defense and most of their notable players are returning, except Lance Stephenson. If the Cavaliers were to win the Eastern Conference title in next year's NBA playoffs, it would be the fifth consecutive season James makes an appearance in the NBA Finals.

Surprisingly, not many basketball fans are on board with this. In an ESPN SportsNation poll that asked "Would you trade Andrew Wiggins to get Kevin Love" only 56 percent said "Yes." Out of 50 states, 47 said "yes" and incredibly Ohio was one of the three states that voted "No." Maybe Cavaliers fans have more faith in Wiggins than they do Love. Yes, Love will cost more and he can opt out after just one season, but the risk vs. reward looks to be worth it for the Cavaliers.

We've seen James thrive with a skilled power forward before in Chris Bosh, who is pretty similar to Love in the fact that Bosh's style of play is also balanced, and both can score from anywhere on the court. Both are skilled passers who can hit their free throws. We haven't seen Love perform great or terrible in crunch time, because he's never played in a playoff game yet. Only time will tell.

With Mike Miller, James, and now possibly Love heading to the Cavaliers--and potentially Ray Allen, as well--the Cavaliers have the best chance of any Cleveland team to end the 1964 title drought.
