During an Interview with People Magazine, Jenny McCarthy denied rumors claiming that she once criticized the weight of her cousin Melissa McCarthy, prior to Melissa's rise to fame.

"There is a crazy story going around that I once told my cousin, Melissa, that she would have to lose weight in order to get into show business. Nothing could be further from the truth," Jenny said.

The rumor that Jenny is now denying may stem from reports by RadarOnline and The National Enquirer claiming that Melissa would not be attending Jenny's upcoming wedding because of a rift in the cousins' relationship.

"The cousins were close at one time, but they've grown distant over the past few years," a National Enquirer source said.

RadarOnline reported the reason for the McCarthy's "distant" relationship was because Jenny "allegedly told Melissa that she would have to lose weight in order to make it in Tinseltown."

But now Jenny is insisting that the rumor reports are simply just rumors and that she's done everything in her power to encourage and support her older cousin.

"When she [Melissa McCarthy] was starting out, I was fortunate enough to be in a position to get her a job on a show I was doing, to learn the ropes and get some experience on a TV set in front of the camera and behind the scenes," Jenny said.

"She has accomplished everything she has accomplished through hard work and her extraordinary talent, and I've only ever encouraged and supported and wished her the very best."

Jenny also addressed the rumors that she allegedly banned Melissa from her upcoming wedding with Donnie Wahlberg.

"They also say that I've 'banned' Melissa from my upcoming wedding, which is also ridiculous. Donnie and I are planning a very intimate ceremony that will involve a very small group of our closest friends and that's it not a huge production with hundreds of friends and extended families," she said.

Naturally, Jenny expressed her disapproval of rumors in general and called them "hurtful."

 "It's hurtful that people make up stories that pit not just families, but specifically women, against each other," she said the interview.
