Beyonce’s Father: Teaching Course on How to Be the Next Beyonce
Beyoncé's father, Mathew Knowles, is set to teach a college course on how to break into the music business. BET reports that the course is called "The Entertainment Industry: How to Get In?"
Knowles will be teaching the course, which will run for one day on Sept. 13, at his alma mater, Houston Community College. According to the Huffington Post, the HCC website describes the course as a daylong boot camp that, "...allow attendees to tap Knowles' vast entertainment and music business expertise and leave with real information, contacts and strategies for their own successful entertainment endeavors."
"I've been in the music and entertainment business more than 20 years and I know how it works," Beyoncé's former manager told BET of his qualifications. "I am able to save someone, who wants to know what to do to get in, a lot of legwork and time... time that it took me years to learn."
Students who complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion and a booklet by Knowles with industry terms, contacts, and additional music business information. Those who purchase advance tickets will pay $295 and those who purchase at the door will pay $350.
BET suggests Knowles' decision to teach the course may be an attempt for the financially struggling former manager to earn some more money.
Knowles is currently struggling to pay child support to his baby's mother whom he cheated with while he was still married to Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles.
Due to his infidelity, Tina and Mathew ended their marriage in 2010.
Earlier this year, Mathew was hit with yet another scandal in which a woman named TaQoya Branscomb claimed that Mathew had also fathered her child around the time that he and Tina got divorced.
BET reports Branscomb is suing Knowles for declaration of paternity and child support.
If Branscomb wins the lawsuit, Mathew will need to be coughing up some serious cash.
Perhaps his Beyoncé-inspired course isn't such a bad idea.
