ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: 10 Latin Celebrities Who Took on the 'Ice Bucket Challenge'
The "Ice Bucket Challenge" has hit social media, and it doesn't seem to be slowing down.
Both everyday people and celebrities have taken on the challenge that raises awareness for ALS, which is most commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. ALS leads to total paralysis, notes The New York Times.
For the challenge, people pour a bucket of ice water on themselves and post it to a social media site. They can then challenge other people, who have to either complete the challenge or donate $100 to ALS within 24 hours.
On Sunday, the ALS Association said it had gotten $13.3 million in donations since July 29. At the same time last year, they had raised $1.7 million.
The interesting thing about this challenge is that many people bring their own twist to it. Some do it with friends. Others do it by themselves.
We have rounded up the 10 best "ice bucket challenge" videos by Latin celebrities.
1. Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez was challenged by Taylor Swift and Ryan Seacrest. She thanked them for the challenge. In it, you see someone pouring ice into a container. As she kneels, someone pours it over her, and she lets out a loud shout. She even starts walking away before she can nominate someone else. She actually had to post a separate video, where she challenge Cara Delevingne, James Franco and Suki Waterhouse.
Lopez took on the challenge in the best possible way. The singer showed off her abs and took a slightly different approach than Gomez. Lopez decide to challenge people first and then had the water poured on her. Her reaction before getting water thrown on her is hilarious. She's obviously anticipating what's about to happen, but she takes it like a champ. Also, her daughter, Emme, adorably tries to hit her with a smaller bucket of water. Though, it seems she may have missed.
3. George Lopez
George Lopez got it done with a little help from Fifth Harmony. Two of the members stood on chairs and poured the bucket together. Before getting drenched, he talked about what a horrible disease ALS was. Lopez's reaction was a little delayed, but he managed to salute toward the end of the video.
4. Thalia
Thalia did the challenge on a boat, surrounded by friends. Each person filled up their bucket with ice, and Thalia counted them down. She yelled very loudly for a few seconds after. The best part of her taking on the challenge was that she wrote a lengthy message talking about ALS.
5. Jaime Camil
Jaime Camil is not one to talk. He just gets the job done in slow motion. Camil pours a large bucket of water over himself. But seeing his reaction that slowed down makes his video original.
6. Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato went above and beyond with her challenge. She didn't just get one bucket poured on her; she got five. She didn't even have a chance to catch her breath in between buckets. She let out little yips after each bucket and said she was "freezing cold" at the end.
7. Mario Lopez
Mario Lopez did it on TV, and his challenge seemed never ending. His container was bigger than most people's, and he yelled through most of it.
Wilmer Valderrama and Ashton Kutcher did it together. They joked about using ice from the 1970s, as they stood by the edge of a pool. The great part of their video was that they challenged Dax Shepard, who immediately stepped into the video and took the challenge.
9. Horatio Sanz
Horatio Sanz was part of a big group. He joined Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, Steve Higgins and Rob Riggle. Sanz came out from backstage after being called out by Riggle. It doesn't get much funnier than watching a group of adult men shivering and yelling.
10. Neymar
Neymar kept it pretty simple. He shot the video at night and poured the bucket on to himself. But he definitely had a reaction and cursed a little as he jumped out of the frame.
