Carmelo Anthony is not expecting to win an NBA title next season, but the New York Knicks superstar is confident that the team will show improvements that are enough for them to make the 2015 NBA Playoffs.

In an interview with the NY Post, Anthony, who signed a five-year deal worth $124 million to stay at the Big Apple, said that the moves that the Knicks made this summer will make them a playoff team next season.

With no salary cap space to make a run at big-name free agents this summer, Knicks president Phil Jackson, who will be entering his first full season at helm, struck a number of deals this summer.

The Knicks parted ways with starting center Tyson Chandler and point guard Raymond Felton, who were both traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Jose Calderon, Samuel Dalembert, Shane Larkin, and two second-round picks. New York also added Travis Outlaw, Quincy Acy, Jason Smith and rookie Cleanthony Early.

The Knicks, who finished with a measly 37-45 record last season, will also play in their first season under new head coach Derek Fisher, who is expected to implement the vaunted triangle offense, which helped Jackson win 11 titles as coach of the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers.

"I can't wait to get started," said Anthony, who failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in his career last season. "No goals. Not setting any goals, but I just can't wait to get it back on."

Jim Boeheim, Anthony's former coach at Syracuse, recently said that the Bulls would have been a better option for Anthony, but the veteran coach also expects the Knicks to become a better team next season than they were last season.

"I think they'll show significant improvement this year. If they get a couple of guys down the road, I think they'll be good," Boeheim said in an interview with ESPN New York. "The bottom line is that [Anthony] wanted to stay in New York and he feels that they'll be significantly better this year. A few moves, a different look, a more consistent approach."
