WWE SmackDown Spoilers, Results for August 22, 2014: Roman Reigns, Randy Orton Continue Their War
Randy Orton kicks off WWE Friday Night SmackDown by warning Roman Reigns that their feud was far from over, despite losing to Reigns at SummerSlam, and threatened to make an example of Rob Van Dam to send a message to any WWE Superstar who steps in his way.
Seth Rollins, who finally took care of his Dean Ambrose problem on "Monday Night Raw," defeated Jack Swagger via count-out after Rollins hit his Curb Stomp finisher on "The All-American American" outside the ring and the former World Heavyweight Champion failed to make it back into the sqaured circle. After the bout, Bo Dallas came out to the ring and told Swagger that he needs to keep "Bo-Lieving" so that he can overcome his current rut and to stop being a "Jack Zero."
Backstage, The Miz approached WWE Director of Operations Kane for a title rematch against Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler. Kane, instead, scheduled The Miz against Roman Reigns.
Rusev, accompanied by Lana, demolished Sin Cara, forcing the masked luchador to tap out to The Accolade.
Rob Van Dam was attacked by Randy Orton as he was being interviewed in the backstage area. The two superstars brawled until they made it to the ring to start the match, which ended in a double count-out. Orton continued his assault on RVD despite the no-contest result, nailing Van Dam with a Hanging DDT off the barricade, driving his skull into the hard floor.
Natalya once again got an assist from AJ Lee in her non-title match victory over newly-crowned WWE Divas Champion Paige. AJ snatched the title belt while Paige was competing in the ring, distracting the champion long enough for Natalya to clamp down the Sharpshooter on the young champion to make her tap out.
Stardust and his brother Goldust defeated The Wyatts in tag team action. After the bout, Erick Rowan and Luke Harper beat down Goldust and Stardust.
Roman Reigns defeated The Miz with a spear in the Friday Night SmackDown main event. After the match, Orton came out to the ramp, staring Reigns down before attacking him as the two came to blows. Reigns and "The Viper" continued their brawl, which continued to get out of hand to end the show.
