‘American Idol’ Star William Hung Gets Married
On June 17, William Hung, who is arguably one of "American Idol's" most beloved Season 3 rejects, tied the knot in Alhambra, California, Rumor Fix reports.
Hung is best known for singing a questionable rendition of Ricky Martin's hit pop song "She Bangs" during Idol's Season 3 audition rounds.
"You can't sing, you can't dance, so what do you want me to say?" Simon Cowell commented on Hung's audiiton.
Hung responded, "I already gave my best, and I have no regrets at all."
Following his unsuccessful audition, Hung's "She Bangs" rendition went viral and eventually landed the aspiring musician a record deal with Koch Entertainment.
Hung went on to release three albums, "Hung For The Holidays," "Inspiration" and "Miracle: Happy Summer," that eventually sold 200K, 35K, and 7K units respectively, Yahoo Celebrity reports.
In addition to his albums, Hung's fame landed him several public appearances including the chance to sing the national anthem at various sporting events, film cameos, and guest roles on "George Lopez" and "Arrested Development." [Yahoo Celebrity]
Despite his short-lived fame and celebrity, Hung revealed to LA Weekly in 2012 that his true passion lies in mathematics.
"My passion has always been math," Hung told La Weekly. "It just took a while to end up as my career."
However, Hung's reasoning behind auditioning for "American Idol" was to show "that even the Average Joe could succeed."
"Though I may not have won Idol, I somehow made it and that's something I'm very grateful for."
Now that his celebrity days are behind him, Hung has gone on to become a statistician for the LA County Sheriff's Department, and he currently works as an administrative assistant for the LA County Department of Public Health, Rumor Fix reports.
