Alicia Machado and Denise Quiñones serve as the nurturing mentors on "Nuestra Belleza Latina," but it would be different if Osmel Sousa could have his way.

Sousa, who is a judge on the show, is unhappy with what they bring to the team. According to TV y Novelas, he has also made it very clear to them what he thinks.

"Alicia was the first one that I told that she wasn't doing her job," he said. "She was the worst one. She would change dresses twice to sit down and observe the ladies instead of being in the background, as mentors should be, telling them things like their hair doesn't look good."

Machado's costume change seems like an unfair knock, as Sousa is known for his flashy clothing. So, though he doesn't change throughout the show, he doesn't blend in.

But Sousa could be on to something with explaining that Machado wasn't promoting growth for the contestants because she wasn't more critical. He had the same problem with Quiñones.

"I don't think she's very interested in preparing a beauty queen," he said. "She would say nice things to them, but she wouldn't say 'don't do that and do this.'"

Sousa added that he doesn't know if the mentors will return this upcoming season, but if it were up to him, he would eliminate them.

The judge also explained what a contestant needs to be successful in the competition.

"The one that is confident and isn't afraid of me," he said. "That's the one that works, the one that can challenge me with personality and ease. That's what I look for, someone who can challenge me and make me shut up."

Auditions for the next season will take place in September, and they will take place in Puerto Rico, Miami, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston and New York. Potential contestants can also audition online.
