G.R.L. Member Simone Battle: Dead at 25
Simone Battle, one of the members of the girl group G.R.L., died in her home after her father discovered her body. The singer is rumored to have committed suicide.
According to TMZ, Battle, 25, was discovered by her father at her West Hollywood home, dead of an apparent suicide. Police are currently investigating the cause of her death and it will not be known until the medical examiner finishes the autopsy.
Battle came to prominence after appearing on the American version of "X Factor" and then she joined the Pussycat Dolls-reboot group G.R.L. According to the Independent, Battle made it to the final 17 on "X Factor" and the joined the five-girl group after.
Founded by Robin Antin, formerly of the Pussycat Dolls, the new group G.R.L. debuted in 2013 and they performed alongside Pitbull in his song “Wild Wild Love,” which reached the top of the charts in the U.K. The band released a statement on their Facebook page concerning the news:
“Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone's incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart. We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”
Celebrities who knew Battle, including "X Factor" judges Simon Cowell and Nicole Scherzinger, and collaborators like Pitbull and Dr. Luke, took to Twitter to express their regret at the news of her death.
