When word had spread that Lupillo Rivera had died, the singer took to social media to clear up the news.

"I don't know where this bad news came from, but it's a lie," he said. "There's still Lupillo for a while. We'll see each other in New York tomorrow. Only believe the news when it comes from my official pages."

With the comment, he also posted a video of himself, where he pretended to speak to his mother-in-law and said that he was still alive. She told him not to throw a party just yet. He then addressed his fans and said that he was doing all right and once again explained that he would be in New York the following day.

His tone changed on Twitter when he continued to explain that death rumors are not something to play with. He wrote the messages in all caps to express his stern tone.

Rivera's mom also took to Twitter to slam the rumors.

"A friend just called me telling me not to see the news," she said. "What happened? That Lupillo died? I told her that they are crazy. I spoke to him yesterday. He's fine."

The next message further expressed her disappointment.

"You don't have to invent stuff," she said. "I spoke to him. Everything is fine thankfully. How they lie."

One site said it was confirmed that Rivera had died, where pictures of the singer had a Telemundo logo to make the information seem more legitimate. One of the pictures featured Lupillo in a hospital.

Recently, the singer was admitted to the hospital for respiratory problems, but his wife had explained everything was all right. She did, however, share pictures of him from the hospital, which were then manipulated for the death hoax.
