On Friday morning, Nicole Kidman's father, Antony Kidman died following a tragic accident in which he fell at Tanglin Club in Singapore, The New York Daily News reports.

Antony Kidman - a well-known clinical psychologist at Sydney's Royal North Shore Hospital and a health psychology director at the University of Technology Sydney - was visiting his younger daughter Antonia and her six children prior to his fatal accident.  [The NY Daily News]

Following his fall, people at the Tanglin Club attempted to perform CPR on Antony while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Soon after, Antony was rushed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was pronounced dead. [The New York Daily News]

Neither his wife Janelle Kidman nor his daughter Nicole  were in Singapore at the time of Antony's death. [People]

"Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father," Kidman's rep told ABC News in a statement. "She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time. Thank you."

Antony's colleagues from the University of Technology Sydney also issued a statement regarding Antony's shocking death.

"It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr. Tony Kidman's sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly - as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner," Vice-Chancellor Professor Attila Brungs said in a statement to People. "Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time."

Nicole Kidman's husband, Keith Urban was also affected by the news of his father-in-law's death.

According to ABC News, Urban canceled his charity event on Thursday night immediately after he heard the news of Antony's death.

"Urban jumped on a jet from California Thursday night to get to his and Kidman's home in Nashville, Tennessee," Urban's rep told ABC News.
