Paramount Pictures has finally announced a new, official title and a release date for the highly anticipated fifth installment in the popular supernatural horror film "Paranormal Activity" series.

The Wrap first reported that the upcoming movie is now titled "Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension" and set to hit theaters on March 13, 2015, instead of its original release date on Halloween 2014.

Greg Plotkin, editor and co-producer of the last three installments as well as the spinoff sequel "Paranormal Activity: The Marked One," also will be working on the next project, which is expected to continue with the franchise's main story of the kidnapping a recent high school graduate Katie (played by Katie Featherston), who is possessed by a demon.

In terms of what "The Ghost Dimension" could refer to, director Christopher Landon previously discussed the ending of "The Marked Ones" back in January. One of the characters from the spinoff ended up appearing at the house from the original "Paranormal Activity." Since the film opened up a new timeline for the whole series, perhaps fans can expect to see some sort of time travel.

"One of the things I think we've always done in an interesting and clever way over the course of the franchise is we've been able to kind of go in and out of the story in different ways," Landon told Slash Film. "To go forwards and backwards in time. And so while it was on the surface a batsh*t crazy idea, I also thought it was very organic to our franchise. Because we've done stuff that's already kind of out there and different."

"And one thing we knew for certain was that we wanted to surprise people," he added. "And to take them to a place that they hadn't seen before, but actually literally had not seen it. And so that was the fun of the moment really. But it is part of a bigger part of the story."
