Sugar Ray Leonard still believes that the super fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will eventually happen before both fighters retire from boxing.

Leonard said that both fighters will eventually set aside their respective egos to arrange the showdown not because of money, but because of how historic the fight could be.

"It's more than just the money because the money will be there. It's the legacy," Leonard said via ESPN.

Leonard knows that most people are saying that Mayweather has the upper hand at this point, but he is still convinced that a showdown between the two superstars will be a huge fight.

"They should fight. Now they're leaning more towards Mayweather. Because at first it was 'We don't know who's going to win the fight' -- like Tommy Hearns and I, like Hagler and I, like Duran and I. But that fight would be huge," Leonard said of Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

Mayweather is coming off a unanimous decision win against Marcos Maidana in their rematch earlier this month, while Pacquiao is scheduled to defend his World Boxing Organization welterweight title against Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 in Macau, China.

Mayweather recently took a swipe at Pacquiao, calling the Filipino boxing icon 'Miss Pacman' and saying that the former pound-for-pound king is desperate for a huge payday. In the same post on his Twitter account, Mayweather also laughed at Pacquiao's recent pay-per-view numbers.

In a recent interview, Pacquiao declined to comment on Mayweather's recent tirades against him, but he hit back, saying that the unbeaten champion is acting like an uneducated person.

"I'm not angry at him," Pacquiao said. "I still feel sorry for him because he acts like an uneducated person. It's pitiful to me and I'm praying for him. He should fear God. For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?"
