The 2014 National League Championship Series is three games complete with the San Francisco Giants leading the St. Louis Cardinals 2-1.

With just four teams remaining in the playoffs, the chase for the 2014 World Series title is getting more exciting. The Giants recently defeated the Cardinals in Game 3 thanks to an error in the 10th inning by pitcher Randy Choate. The Giants took Game 3, 5-4, to take a 2-1 series lead.

The Giants also won Game 1, shutting out the Cardinals 3-0 on the road in St. Louis. In that game, Venezuelan slugger Pablo Sandoval scored, as well as Buster Posey and Hunter Pence. Pitcher Madison Bumgarner gave the Giants 7.2 innings without allowing a single run. With so much attention going to Cy Young winner Clayton Kershaw, Bumgarner is becoming the most underrated pitcher today.

The Cardinals would, however, get revenge.

In Game 2, the Cardinals were victorious, 5-4. The Cardinals scored a run in the final three innings, and didn't commit a single error all game. Kolten Wong's solo home run in the ninth inning sealed the deal for the Cardinals, and the series was tied at 1-1.

Because the Cardinals won their division during the regular season, they have home field advantage in this series. Major League Baseball currently uses the 2-3-2 format, so the Giants will be playing the next two games at home with a chance to end this series.

Either the Giants or Cardinals have appeared in seven of the last 12 World Series titles. We have also seen either the Giants or Cardinals in the last four World Series Championships. The last National League team to make it to the World Series other than the Giants or Cardinals was the 2009 Philadelphia Phillies.

In recent history, the Giants have had the upper hand, eliminating the Cardinals from the postseason in 2002 and 2012. In the 2012 NLCS, the Cardinals led the series 3-1, but the Giants won three games in a row to win the series 4-3.

In Game 4, Shelby Miller will be starting for the Cardinals and Ryan Vogelsong will be starting for the Giants.

Schedule

The Cardinals and Giants will face each other in Game 4 at AT&T Park in San Francisco, California. Game 4 is schedule to begin Wednesday night at 8:07 p.m. EST. Live stream of the game can be seen here on MLB's official website.

Predictions

The Cardinals have certainly been an NL powerhouse over the years, but the Giants seem to be their kryptonite. Adam Wainwright struggling with an elbow injury spells bad news for the Cardinals.

Giants win series 4-3
