Upon releasing her heartbreaking new single "My Heart Wants What It Wants" inspired by Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez recently discussed her alleged feud with on- and off-again boyfriend's rumored flame Kendall Jenner.

During her radio interview with "On Air with Ryan Seacrest" on Thursday, Gomez insisted that there was no beef between her and Jenner to begin with.

"We were never not friends," she said.

Seacrest brought up the time when Gomez unfollowed the reality star on Instagram.

"All of it is for my fans,"  the "Come & Get It" singer explained. "I didn't realize it was going to start that. I was just like, 'you know what, I'm just going to follow my fans.' I didn't know that [unfollowing] was like a thing."

However, according to Hollywood Life, Gomez is actually using her noticeably rekindled "friendship" with Jenner to benefit her relationship with Bieber.

"Selena is a smart cookie. She's well aware of the famous saying 'keep your friends close, and your enemies closer,'" a source claimed. "By being on good terms with Kendall, Selena can keep tabs on Justin. She can also try and find out if and what he told Kendall about them and their relationship."

The source claimed that being close with the model not only helps the former child actress be on top of what the Canadian pop star is up to, but also helps with her career.

"Plus, Selena doesn't want to burn any bridges with the Kardashian family," the source said. "It's not a smart career move, and she knows this."

In addition, when Seacrest asked Gomez about her highly publicized up and down relationship with Bieber, she replied, "I support him. I think I always will."

"I'm upset when he's upset, I'm happy when he's happy," she said. "I don't want anything bad ever happen to him. It hurts me. That's all."
