During a recent interview with Los Angeles Confidential, John Legend was very candid about his decision to take things slow in regards to falling in love with Chrissy Teigen, whom he married last year in September.

Although Legend's hit love song "All of Me" was inspired by Teigen, he admits that it wasn't "love at first sight" when he and the Sports Illustrated model first met.

"I'm more cautious than that. I wasn't like, 'This is the woman I'm going to marry' from day one," Legend revealed. "For me I'm the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever."

Since falling in love with Teigen, Legend has gone on to write and record "All of Me," which he describes as a sincere and authentic representation of the love he shares with his wife.

"The more you know someone, the more you're inspired by your relationship. Also, I grew up just learning what it means to be in love with somebody... because I had never really been in love before. I guess you have to grow enough to be able to write that song with sincerity and authenticity," Legend said about the single.

Us Weekly reports that Legend and Teigen first met on the set of his "Stereo" music video shoot back in 2007.

Following their initial introduction on the set of the shoot, the two later hooked up and eventually built a relationship that continued to grow and led up to their marriage in 2013.

Like Legend, Teigen also revealed during an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine that she decided to take things slow with Legend before their decision to get married.

"I'm not going to lie. We hooked up. [And then when he went on tour] I left him by himself for a while," she said. "The worst thing you can do is try to lock someone like that down early on, then have them think, 'There's so much more out there,' she explained. "I played it cool for a long time. Never once did I ask, 'What are we?' Marriage was never my goal, because I've never been very traditional. I was just happy to be with him."
