Freddie Roach is optimistic that the super fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will finally happen in 2015 after Top Rank Promotions CEO Bob Arum revealed that he will negotiate with CBS CEO Les Moonves about the super showdown.

Roach told the Los Angeles Daily News that Arum actually sat down with Moonves four months ago to talk about the Mayweather-Pacquiao bout, and both executives indicated they are willing to make the fight happen. CBS is the parent company of Showtime, who carries Mayweather's fights on pay-per-view.

"I was there, I was the third party," Roach said of the meeting between Arum and Moonves. "I just listened a lot. But they spoke about what they could do and how to make the fight happen. Moonves said he can deliver Mayweather, and, obviously, Bob said he could deliver Pacquiao."

The Hall of Fame trainer is optimistic that Arum and Moonves will eventually reach an agreement to finalize the Mayweather-Pacquiao super showdown in 2015, giving boxing fans the fight they have been demanding for the past five years.

"It was a very good meeting. What they said in that meeting, if they can do it, the fight will happen," Roach added. "Very soon. I think next. Moonves and Bob walked out to Moonves' car with their arms around each other. The right people are talking about it. I think that makes it a bigger possibility."

Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya also took to Twitter on Thursday to announce that he is willing to do his part to make the fight happen. BoxingScene reported that a group of investors from United Arab Emirates are preparing lucrative guaranteed deals for Pacquiao and Mayweather.

And in the event the fight happens next year, Roach is confident that Pacquiao, who scored a lopsided decision win over Chris Algieri on Saturday, will hand Mayweather the first defeat of his boxing career in 48 fights.

"At this point, I think Mayweather's legs aren't there anymore," Roach said. "He's not as sharp as Manny is, if you compare his last fight with Manny's last fight. Three years ago, I thought it was a dead-even fight and real tough fight to pick. Now, I don't think that. I think we can knock Mayweather out at this point."
