Johnny Manziel finally got a chance to prove his worth on Sunday after Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine decided to field in the rookie quarterback in the fourth quarter of their 26-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

Manziel, the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, quickly made an impact for the Browns as he completed 5-of-8 passes for 63 yards, and also scored on a diving 10-yard touchdown run.

With his impressive performance on Sunday, multiple reports indicated that Manziel could make his first NFL start on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts in front of their home crowd.

When asked about the possibility of starting Manziel against the Colts, Pettine did not give a direct answer, but sounded like they are leaning towards giving the former Texas A&M standout the first start of his NFL career.

"The door is definitely open for a change at the quarterback position," Pettine said via ESPN. "It's not like we're just going to go back to Brian [Hoyer]. This has been a cumulative thing where discussions about a change at quarterback have been more and livelier. We'll evaluate both quarterbacks and have a decision soon."

Hoyer, who edged Manziel in the race for the starting quarterback spot in the offseason, had a strong start this season, leading to the Browns to seven victories, but he has struggled in their last three games, where he had just one touchdown and six interceptions.

The 28-year-old quarterback, who will become a free agent after the season, has completed just 50.8 percent of his passes in their last three games, and finished with a measly 51.0 passer rating on Sunday. He was benched after his second interception, which led to a field goal that gave the Bills a commanding 20-3 lead.

Hoyer, who was initially viewed as their starting quarterback for the rest of the season after leading the Browns to strong start, admitted that he was surprised by Pettine's decision to replace him on Sunday, and also said that he is also unsure of what to expect moving forward.

"This is my team, and I've always felt that way, so we'll see what happens," Hoyer said.
