Miss Bumbum 2014: Mexico Adapts Version of Competition; Winner to Be Announced in January
Now that Brazil has crowned its 2014 Miss Bumbum winner, Mexico is getting started on its own version of the competition.
Mexico wants a chance at the contest, which has become successful in all parts of the world, according to La Opinion. But Mexican organizers want the contest to have its own twist.
"In Brazil, they look for biggest butt. What we look for is for a cute woman with charisma, who is social and has an aesthetic behind," said Fabiola Zamora, a spokeswoman for the event. "We are emphasizing beauty."
Up until Dec. 31, any woman who wants to participate can send in her photo. Those who make the cut will find out on Jan. 1. That is when the public will choose which of the 20 women will move forward.
The winner will be announced on Jan. 30.
"We don't want to be pigeonholed with one type of woman," said Alberto Gonzalez, a spokesman for the show. "We want any type of woman to participate. We think it will be an excellent opportunity to take them into other platforms, where they will have a lot of exposure. We think that one million pesos will be very attractive, and we have four judges, who are a surprise."
Organizers want this to be a positive experience and have joined forces with organizations that support women in vulnerable situations. Zamora added that Miss Bumbum Mexico is partnering up with lawyers, who will give legal advice to women who have been abused.
Miss Bumbum Mexico has been in the works for four years. That's when Mexican businessmen flew to Brazil to buy the rights for the show.
Hopefuls need to have been born in Mexico and must send it a photo that shows off the contestant's whole body.
