Fantasy Football Week 14 Predictions, Stats & Rankings: Who to Sit, and Who to Start
Welcome to another edition of "Fantasy Football Friday."
Week 14 of the NFL season is here and Fantasy Football owners have to make a lot of choices. The most notable players usually get the start, but sometimes it's best to bench them because of who they are facing.
Here are some of the best options for Week 14.
1. Quarterback
Start Him: Aaron Rodgers
This is a no-brainer. Rodgers is projected to have the best week of any quarterback. Not only is the Green Bay Packer quarterback having a terrific season with 32 touchdowns and just three interceptions, but he also faces the Atlanta Falcons this week. The Falcons have the worst overall defense in the league and the worst overall pass defense.
Sit Him: Kyle Orton
Kyle Orton has done a good job as the Buffalo Bills starting quarterback this season. In his eight starts, Orton has 13 passing touchdowns and five interceptions. But, it may be best to sit him this week against the underrated Denver Broncos defense, which ranks No. 3 in the NFL.
2. Running Back
Start Him: Le'Veon Bell
The Pittsburgh Steelers face the Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC North showdown, and they know it's a must-win game. Le'Veon Bell ranks second in the league in rushing yards with 1,046 this season. The Bengals rush defense ranks 25th overall against the run.
Sit Him: Jamaal Charles
He may be one of the most explosive backs in the game, but Jamaal Charles will be facing the No. 6 ranked rush defense in the league, the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals will stack the box and make quarterback Alex Smith try to beat them.
3. Wide Receiver
Start Him: Jordy Nelson
Just like Aaron Rodgers, Nelson should thrive on Monday Night Football against the worst pass defense in the league. Nelson already has 1,119 yards through the air with 10 touchdowns, and the Falcons shouldn't be able to stop him at Lambeau Field.
Sit Him: Jeremy Maclin
Maclin is having an excellent year with career highs in yards and receptions. Unfortunately for him and Mark Sanchez, they face the Seattle Seahawks pass defense led by Richard Sherman. Head coach Chip Kelly may design an offensive attack more suited to target Zach Ertz and Riley Cooper instead.
4. Tight End
Start Him: Vernon Davis
The San Francisco 49ers are facing a must-win situation at 7-5 heading into the final month of the season. Thankfully for them, they face the Oakland Raiders in their next game. Vernon Davis has been struggling this season, but a game against the 1-11 Raiders is just what the doctor ordered.
Sit Him: Larry Donnell
The New York Giants have been playing terrible this year, but tight end Larry Donnell has been a bright spot. Donnell has 516 receiving yards this season, including a three touchdown performance against the Washington Redskins. Donnell and the Giants face a Tennessee Titans team that has an average pass defense, but fumbles and Eli Manning interceptions make this a bad matchup.
5. Defense
Start Them: Detroit Lions
Let's not forget that the Lions have been playing elite defense this season. Defensive tackle Nick Fairley may not play, but that shouldn't make a big difference against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Lions defense should dominate the 2-10 Buccaneers, especially at home in Detroit.
Sit Them: Cleveland Browns
Who would have thought the Cleveland Browns would be 7-5 heading into December? The Browns defense ranks 9th best in points given up so far, but this week could get ugly. The Browns face the best offense in league, the Indianapolis Colts, and Brian Hoyer is turning over the ball far too often.
