Details for the highly anticipated animated sequel to Pixar's "Finding Nemo" have been released. The stars and other people behind "Finding Dory" have given out great scoop on what to expect for the 2016 film.

Pixar President Jim Morris spoke at the Comic-Con Experience in Brazil and gave fans some insight into the upcoming movie.

One of Morris' more shocking tidbits was that much of the movie, which features fish as main characters, will not take place in the ocean. He explained that in this chapter, audiences find out that Dory, a regal blue tang voiced by Ellen DeGeneres, was born and raised at the Marine Biology Institute of California before being released into the wild.

The film takes place several months after its 2003 original, where the memory-challenged Dory now lives with clownfish Marlin and Nemo on the same reef. However, when Dory accompanies young Nemo on a school trip, the namesake characters' memory of her past and her family come rushing back. This triggering sends her on a whirlwind adventure to California to go and find them.

DeGeneres and Albert Brooks will return to voice the lead roles of Dory and Marlin, while new characters like Dory's father Charlie will be brought to life by Eugene Levy and her mother Jenny by Diane Keaton. This star-studded cast will also be rounded out by Ty Burrell, who was cast in the animated picture as Bailey, a Beluga whale.

The news of DeGeneres' return to play the beloved blue fish was announced on Instagram after the star had confirmed there was a sequel to the Oscar-winning original in the works on Twitter.

"I'm excited that it's finally happening," she told her audience on her daytime talk show, "Ellen." "I read the script, and it's fantastic. It's hilarious, it's warm, it's everything that you want it to be."
