NFL Week 15 Sunday Night Football Schedule & Predictions: Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles [Poll]
A classic NFC rivalry will have NFL playoff implications as Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys face the Philadelphia Eagles on NFL Sunday Night Football at 8:30 p.m. EST.
Week 15 of the 2014-15 NFL season gives football fans an NFC East match-up between two teams who have a storied rivalry with one another.
The Eagles and Cowboys are both 9-4 and have high hopes of winning the NFC East heading in to the final stretch of the season.
Let's break down the teams and predict a winner.
Dallas Cowboys (9-4)
The Dallas Cowboys are an impressive 9-4 after 13 games of play. The 8-8 streak has officially ended in Dallas. The Cowboys defeated the Chicago Bears in their last game on Thursday Night Football, and they had 10 days to prepare for the Eagles. Although the game will be played in the City of Brotherly Love, you can argue that's a good thing for the Cowboys.
The Cowboys are a perfect 6-0 on the road this season, but just 3-4 at Jerry World.
Despite back problems, quarterback Tony Romo is having another fantastic year. Romo has 25 passing touchdowns to just eight interceptions, with a 108.8 passer rating. That's the highest passer rating of Romo's career. Thanks to Dez Bryant and Jason Witten, the Cowboys have recorded the seventh most receiving touchdowns this season. Terrance Williams is having a breakout season as well with six touchdowns.
The biggest reason the Cowboys have won nine games is because of their rushing attack. DeMarco Murray leads the NFL in rushing yards with 1,606, but he was held to a season-low 73 yards against the Eagles in Week 13.
The Cowboys were embarrassed by the Eagles on Thanksgiving, 33-10, but they'll have a chance to get revenge on Sunday night. This Cowboys team has notable road wins this season over the Seattle Seahawks and a 21-point victory against the St. Louis Rams.
For the Cowboys to have a chance, they must contain Jeremy Maclin.
Philadelphia Eagles (9-4)
At 9-4 and a win over the Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles control their own destiny going forward. The Eagles are currently the No. 3 seed in the NFC, and they still have small chance at grabbing a bye week in the postseason.
Head coach Chip Kelly has the Eagles' offense rolling, ranking No. 5 in yards and No. 4 in points scored this season. The Eagles fast pace offense confuses opposing defenses and doesn't allow many substitutes and defensive audibles. In Week 13, the Eagles baffled the Cowboys defense all game long. Unfortunately for the Eagles, their defense ranks 24th overall in the league.
With Nick Foles out, Mark Sanchez has played the last six games. Sanchez has been extremely inconsistent, as we saw him play with the New York Jets. Sanchez played great against the Cowboys two weeks ago with a 102.2 passer rating but played terrible last week against the Seattle Seahawks.
Sanchez has 78 touchdowns and 76 interceptions in his career. Again, he giveth and he taketh away.
Running back LeSean McCoy has eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing mark for the fourth time in the last five seasons. With Darren Sproles, the Eagles' running game ranks seventh overall in rushing yards. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has been the Eagles most consistent offensive player this season with 1,109 yards and 10 touchdowns. Maclin has more catches and receiving yards than Bryant this season, and he has just as many touchdowns.
The Eagles are 6-1 at home this season. Their only loss at home came to the Seahawks last week, 24-14.
Schedule, Where to Watch
The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles will play each other on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 8:30 p.m. EST on NBC. The game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. You can view a live game stream here.
Predictions
These Cowboys don't make a lot of sense, sometimes for the better. Despite getting blown out against the Eagles on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys are perfect on the road this season. Is Sanchez going to outplay Romo again? Sanchez has never led a team to a division title in his career. Somehow, someway the Cowboys will win on the road, yet again. This will be a close game, but the quarterback position will make the difference.
Cowboys win 31-27
