Two of three escaped inmates from an Alabama jail have been found and are in custody.

The three men, two of whom had been charged with murder, escaped the Choctaw County jail early Saturday, according to CNN. They had been in a single cell at about 2 a.m. when they pulled off the escape right under the jailer's nose.

One started screaming, saying another of them was very sick, Choctaw County Sheriff Tom Abate said. The jailer looked through a porthole, saw someone vomiting, then opened the cell door. The inmates jumped the jailer as he opened the door, stole his keys and cell phone, and fled on foot.

Local authorities using tracking dogs lost the scent of the three inmates about one-quarter mile away from the jail, by State Highway 17 in Butler, Alabama.

By noon on Sunday, however, two of the escapees had been caught and were back in custody with the local authorities.

The three men who escaped were Demarcus Woodward, 23, Gemayel Culbert, 32, and Justin Terrell Gordon, 23.

Woodward was in jail for allegedly fatally shooting a work release inmate.

Culbert was in jail for his alleged involvement in the killing of two people at a private club in northern Choctaw County.

Gordon was in jail for his alleged connection to an armed convenience store theft.

Culbert was found Sunda, and Gordon was found Saturday night, but Woodward remains at large, according to the Choctaw Sun-Advocate.

The manhunt involved Alabama's state Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals from Mobile, along with local authorities, according to CNN.

The jailer who had been allegedly choked by the inmates when they attacked him was treated and released from an area hospital Saturday morning.

Choctaw County, with population of fewer than 14,000, is in southwestern Alabama, bordering Mississippi.
