Soccer Transfer News and Rumors: Radamel Falcao Wants to Stay at Manchester United
Radamel Falcao has yet to make an impact for Manchester United this year, but the star striker said he wants to remain at Old Trafford beyond the current season.
Falcao, who is playing on loan from Monaco this season, has only appeared in eight Barclays Premier League games, scoring just one goal for Manchester United.
But if he has it his way, Falcao, who has scored 155 goals in his club career before the loan move to Old Trafford, Manchester United will exercise its option of purchasing him from Monaco for 43.5 million pounds in the summer transfer window.
"Obviously I have to analyze the situation, see if I play more and see what decision the board takes. But from my point of view, I really want to stay," Falcao said via ESPN FC. "I am very happy in this city, in this club and I am enjoying it here."
Falcao, who also starred for Porto and Atletico Madrid earlier in his career, is used to starting for his club, but the 28-year-old has only started three times for Manchester United.
Since returning from a calf injury, Falcao has yet to be named into the starting XI despite recovering from the recent setback, but he said that he will remain patient and wait for coach Louis van Gaal to give him an opportunity.
"Let's see wait and see what the decision of the coach is, when he wants to use me more," Falcao told the club's official website. "We talk a lot, the coach and I. He has a philosophy that I respect. I have had an injury, and I have had to wait for the opportunity to play."
The Colombia international admitted, though, that not getting an opportunity to play is frustrating sometimes, but he guaranteed that he will give it his all when Van Gaal calls his number.
Falcao also said he understands that Van Gaal is trying to do his best to give equal opportunities to him, Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.
"Every footballer wants to play, no one is happy when they are not playing, when they are on the bench, but whenever I am given the opportunity, whether it be for five, 10, 20 or 90 minutes, I have to give my best," he added. "I feel ready for the moment that the team needs me. Whenever I have the opportunity to come on I try to do my best for the coach and I try to help the team."
