Lindsey Vonn's bid to get the World Cup record will have to wait a bit after the former Olympic champion crashed out of the super-G race on Sunday in Val d'Isire, France.

Vonn looked poised to draw even with Annemarie Moser-Proll, who holds the most number of World Cup victories with 62, but she entered a gate too wide, leading to a crash that allow a 1-2 finish for Austrian Elisabeth Goergl and Anna Fenninger in the race.

"I was risking everything and attacking the course. That sometimes happens in super-G, you don't have any training runs and you have just one inspection," said Vonn, who hurt her elbow during the crash. "I hit my elbow, somehow funny. I have some ice on it. It's just a little bit swollen but no big deal."

Vonn admitted she was feeling tired heading into Sunday's race. Fans gasped after Vonn went down and flexed her right leg, but the skiing star went up on her feet, avoiding damage in her troublesome right knee.

"I was a little tired," Vonn said via FIS. "Yesterday was a great day, but a very long day and it takes a lot of energy. I skied pretty well on the top section and I was at my limit and I missed a little bit of elevation and I wasn't able to make the gate. The positive thing is that my knees are good and I'm still going home for Christmas with a big smile."

Meanwhile, Vonn's boyfriend, Tiger Woods, failed to make an impact in his return to action earlier this month, but the former world No. 1 was credited by Arjun Atwal for the Indian golfer's recent triumph.

Atwal, who has not won an event since the 2010 Wyndham Championships, became the inaugural winner of the Dubai Open on Sunday, and the 41-year-old credited Woods for giving him tips heading into the final round.

"You know, we've become like really, really close," Atwal told Mid-Day, referring to Woods. "Him going through his stuff and me struggling the last couple of years, we've been there for each other. It's almost to the point where there's very few friends in the world that will be there for you when you need them the most, and he's one of them."
