GTA 5 PC Release Date, Features and Review: Windows Version of Grand Theft Auto 5 Debuts First Quarter 2014
Next year, gamers will be able to shoot prostitutes and steal cars on their computers in Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC, Eurogamer reports.
According to the blog, which Forbes calls "typically-reliable," Rockstar will release Grand Theft Auto V for PC in the first quarter of 2014.
Currently, the video game is available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but Eurogamer has contacted "multiple industry sources" that say the open world game for PC is coming soon.
Based on history, the news could be true. Grand Theft Auto IV was released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on April 29, 2008. It was then released for PC in Dec. 2008.
Furthermore, Chris Evenden, senior director of investor relations for Nvidia, the company that invented GPU, spoke of a PC version of Grand Theft Auto V.
"[PC] gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin's Creed 4," Evenden said.
After Evenden made the statement, however, Nvidia issued their own statement to Eurogamer contradicting him.
"Nvidia does not have information on any possible PC version release of Grand Theft Auto or its availability," a spokesperson said. "We deeply regret the error."
Rockstar has responded by sending curious minds to their "Asked & Answered" page:
"The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don't have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time, and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now," the page reads.
Still, technology companies are known to keep developments under wraps, so a PC game is not unrealistic. Tech companies are even better known for seeking maximum profits. A PC version of Grand Theft Auto V could do just that considering a petition on Change.org requesting such a game that has 596,812 signatures as of today.
