UFC News & Updates: CM Punk Will Silence Critics, Says MMA Veteran Cole Miller
Ultimate Fight Championship (UFC) veteran Cole Miller defended Phil "CM Punk" Brooks from his critics, saying that the former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar will eventually prove his doubters wrong.
A significant number of UFC fighters and fans blasted the promotion of signing CM Punk with most saying that the professional wrestler does not deserve to fight inside the Octagon.
Miller, who had 16 UFC fights in seven years, on the other hand said CM Punk will not just have a chance to compete, but the 36-year-old will also be a winner in the Octagon.
"I think he'll do very well," Miller told MMA Fighting. "I don't think he's trying to make a 10-year career out of this, but he's going to shake things up, whoop some ass and prove a lot of people wrong. I expect him to do very well against whoever they put up against him."
CM Punk said he is aware of what most fans are saying about him. He admitted he knows the reason why most fans and active UFC fighters, like Nate Diaz, are questioning his deal with UFC, and the former WWE champion vowed to silence his critics.
Miller believes CM Punk will back up his words when he steps inside the Octagon next year. When asked why he is confident about CM Punk's chances in the UFC, Miller said the popular wrestler is a better grappler than most of the veteran mixed martial artists.
"I think most MMA fighters don't have any kind of ground," Miller said. "Most of them aren't good at all. Even in the UFC. There are plenty of exceptions, but when I say most, I mean more than 50 percent are nothing more than OK blue belts on the ground. I would rate CM Punk definitely above that."

Miller also pointed out CM Punk will not leave WWE, where he has earned a huge amount of money, if the Chicago, Illinois, native is not determined to fulfill his dream of becoming one of the best mixed martial artists in the world.
"You think someone like him is going to just make a mockery of themselves in another area? This guy was the best wrestler in the world," Miller said. "He's not gonna go into the UFC to lose, I promise you."
CM Punk recently said he is open to facing Nate Diaz and Anderson Silva in the future if given the chance.
