A day prior to the start of the new year, "Really Don't Care" singer Demi Lovato took to Instagram to share a photo showcasing her weight loss over the course of 2014.

Lovato included an inspirational caption alongside the photo, explaining she managed to lose weight by adopting healthy food and life habits and remaining consistent in those choices.

"I was beautiful then,and I'm beautiful now," Lovato said about her weight loss journey on Instagram. "2014 I decided to focus on bettering myself by making changes in my life with health, balance, endurance and consistency."

Lovato ended her heartfelt message by encouraging her fans to remain consistent with their New Year's resolutions.

"It's all about loving and taking care of the only body you will ever have... Cherish it, love it, embrace it.. Because when you do.. It begins to show," she continued.

Before sharing her motivational Instagram message, Lovato spoke with Fitness Magazine last month and revealed that her beau, Wilmer Valderrama, was the reason she maintained a healthy eating regime and did not relapse back into her eating disorder.

"It's been difficult," she said of her struggle with maintaining healthy eating habits. "I almost went back to rehab for my eating disorder last summer. I was obsessing over food and terrified of it at the same time."

Luckily for Lovato, Valderrama recognized she was falling down a slippery slope again, and he called her out on it before it could progress.

"Wilmer noticed and called me out on it, which was a relief," she said. "I was done being afraid of food and so tired of overeating and not knowing why I did it. Now I'm on a structured meal plan. I eat four small meals and two snacks a day. It's teaching me portion control."

In addition to leaning on Valderrama and her loved ones for support, Lovato also revealed she exercises daily as part of her recovery process.
