'El Señor de los Cielos' Season 3 News & Spoilers: Fernanda Castillo Teases Twists, Says Many of the Bad Guys Will Switch Sides [Pic]
Fernando Castillo has revealed that her "El Señor de los Cielos" character will return for Season 3.
Castillo plays Monica Robles, who has a relationship with main character Aurelio Casillas. She grew up in the world of cartels and has been actively involved since after college.
The telenovela, which is based on real events that took place in Mexico between 2006 and 2012, will welcome back Castillo, notes El Universal. The actress notes that the cast has been kept under wraps because there will be "twists" along the way.
Although her character recently gave birth after having lost a baby, she doesn't know what will occur between Monica and Aurelio.
"I don't know what path my character will take now," she said. "[The creators] wish for it to be a surprise, although many of the bad guys will switch to the good side."
The Telemundo show recently won an International Emmy for its first season.
In an interview with Latin Post, actress Carmen Villalobos explained why she believed the show had been so popular.
"The truth is that Telemundo is always innovating, and the stories are different," she said in Spanish. "I think that's what people like about it, and why they are preferring us."
The 2014 International Emmys were the first time Telemundo had been nominated for its television show, and Villalobos was surprised to even be at the event.
Recently, Villalobos shared a picture on her Instagram account that was a slight dig at rival television channel Univision.
In the image, the starlet wears boxing gloves, as she stares off in the distance. The bright white words beside her share the difference between Telemundo's female characters and other networks' leading ladies.
"Our protagonists don't spend their time crying," the image reads. "That's why our audiences prefer us."
