Cleveland Cavaliers general manager David Griffin guaranteed coach David Blatt's job is safe and also denied reports about a growing turmoil among players and their coaching staff.

Griffin told reporters on Sunday Blatt will remain as their coach despite their recent disappointing performances. He insisted team executives have not even talked about the possibility of making coaching changes this season because they are determined to give Blatt enough time to prove his doubters wrong.

"This narrative of our coaching situation is truly ridiculous," Griffin said via ESPN. "It's a non-story, it's a non-narrative. Coach Blatt is our coach, he's going to remain our coach. Do not write that as a vote of confidence. He never needed one. It was never a question. So don't write it that way."

Recent reports indicated there is a growing concern within the Cavaliers organization about Blatt's failure to make his players respond to what he is trying to do in Cleveland, particularly LeBron James, who is being accused of being too passive this season. Griffin also denied such report, reiterating players are listening to Blatt.

James, who is currently recovering from knee and back strains, previously played down the issue, reaffirming his support to Blatt, who is coaching in his first season in the NBA after a successful coaching career in Europe.

"I think my relationship with the coach continues to get better and better every day," James said. "This is two months of us being together. I don't know him fully. He doesn't know me fully. He doesn't know any of the guys fully and that's to be expected. It's our first year together. But he has our attention."

The Cavaliers, who were considered as one of the favorites to win the title this year before the season started, are currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings with their 19-15 record.

Griffin said he is disappointed with all the negative reports about their team, but he insisted they are not surprised because they knew all along that this season will be tough because they are still a work in progress despite having a star-studded roster.

"I'm not surprised, but I've been disappointed the slant has been an attempt to be so negative all the time," Griffin said. "This is exactly what we said it's going to be: It's a work in progress and we're going to continue to get better every day."
